Mistakes to avoid

Blunders to Avoid

Even if you have prepared for the job interview, but people usually make small unnecessary mistakes that could cost them a job. Therefore, there are plenty of vital things that you should avoid and don’t use them during the interview. Rubbing your back or neck would make people think that you are not interested at all. Touching your nose seems to be suspicious and doubting your honesty; moreover, that is not hygiene as well. Sitting with your armed crossed over your chest would show unfriendliness and underestimation, they would think you are arrogant as defensive. Crossing legs over each other answer the discomfort. Leaning body towards the door would seem that you are ready to leave. Slouching your back in your seat may show how unprepared you are or lack of confidence. Trying to show how nervous you are, they might notice that you are taking it seriously, but your mind is too weak for that particular work. Moving with your feet up and down is a sign of boredom, even you are interested. Resisting touching your hair or other parts on your face, this suggests you are not saying a truth. Playing with rings, watches and jewelry might distract the interviewer, so is better not to wear anything, and then he or she can focus on you and the conversation. Pointing would be absolutely problematic because in some cultures this gesture might be rude.

Feeling Control and Mistakes

Feeling Control and Mistakes
You cannot fully concentrate on your body language at the end of the day during that stressful moment, but a great body language is a reflection of your level of confidence. Everyone knows that how tense the job interview is, and you tried to prepare for it a lot. However, when you enter the office the relaxation diminish as well, so keep your head straight and you will be definitely surprised how naturally communicate non-verbally.
Relax
Be physically relaxed yourself on the way to the office, and practice smiling all the time. Since smiling will reduce your stress, and the interviewer also feel closer to you. Practice sitting as comfortable as you can, so you don’t have to make any bad movements with your hands, legs and facial expressions. Likely, picture yourself as an actor who is acting confident, but actually you’re not, but it helps you feel that you have it under control. Your posture, body, maintaining eye contact and receiving message from the counterpart would make you feel better.  Deliver a great answer from a hard question would take you out of the pressure. One of the best techniques is pause before answering a difficult question which means give yourself a break, but no more than 10 seconds. Since the interviewer would not notice that, so you will have enough eight seconds to think and organize your thoughts before it might deteriorate. You must not panic, and control your voice in every situation; don’t let anyone hear your shaking voice. If they can hear it, you are not a right candidate that they are looking for.

Significant Steps

Remember to follow all steps and protocols that hiring manager or someone else is trying to deliver. When you sit to the chair, try to let the interviewer sit first or let them offer you to sit. Afterwards, put your documents and resume on the table, make sure to bring some extra resume in hard copies. Therefore, they can keep it for themselves or give them to assistants who are sitting in the same room with you. Put your suitcase right next to you on the floor, don’t hold it because it might seem like you are making a barrier towards them or afraid of stealing it from you. You should sit a foot away from the table, so you can control your own zone and make a comfort for both sides.
Express Emotion
Show emotion and smile during the conversation, but furrow your brow if you’re talking about the issue that you have experienced before. The job interview is always tough and tense, so the nervous smile is better than no smile at all. The interviewer always knows how nervous you are, but the smile can represent your relaxation. Moreover, your facial expression can tell how sociable and friendly you are, and that is the reason how to cement your bond.
Voice and Tone

Speaking in a clear and controlled voice conveys confidence. Try to control your tone without pitch, and speak coherently with the right tone. During your speech there must be a pause and taking a deep breath to carry on your speech. Don’t overdo it because the interviewer might get uncomfortable and will get rid of you as soon as possible. Thus, the right tone and timing will show your confidence and honesty.
Receiving Messages
It is always crucial to understand what message the interviewer is trying to deliver. Preparing for your job interview includes not only knowing what to say but how to say it and understand the counterpart. Always try to own the space, be confident and give enough personal space to the interviewer. Don’t be out of topic, and try to be interested in details which you are talking, so you will not have to be concern about signals like leaning head to one side, crossing arms or leaning away from your interviewer. However, when you receive a bad signal, you should ask the interviewer a question if they want to ask you something or did you mention everything.

Body language during a job interview

Let’s begin with the basic thing which is how should we prepare for the interview. The very first thing that we should deal with is our mentality. We have to fight against the nervousness, and always stay calm and relaxed. The second thing knows what to wear on that particular day which might be a suit or depend on a job that you are applying to. Nevertheless, you want to dress formally because it will show the respect or interest and level of your seriousness to this job. Thirdly, you should revise the interview questions as much as you can, as you will never know how many questions they will ask or what kind of question will be. For instance, there might be easy questions which are asking about your personal life, previous job and experience; on the other hand, there will be problematic questions about the salary that you are expecting or the position you would end up in the next ten years. Although there are a plenty of difficult questions, but try to be relaxed instead of panicking. After all the preparation you should be ready to use those rules during your job interview which is body language.
Hands Control
Sometimes your hands want to distract things during your interview; however, you should always remember to keep your hands low, no higher than your chest. Nevertheless, you should limit your hand movements, and don’t let your interviewer follow your hands too much because it can lose the concentration on you. Furthermore, you can move them naturally with a right way as you express yourself, so the nervousness can go away.
Legs Control

Be aware of the interview body language message your legs are trying to give. Ankle on top of your knee will make them think that you are the boss who is absolutely arrogant and over confident. On the other hand, crossing your legs would be very defensive, and not taking it as serious as the interview is. Due to the nervousness people usually distract themselves by different movements. Therefore, is better off if you keep your feet flat, and you will look more professional and relaxed.
Eye Contact

Maintaining eye contact is absolutely pivotal if not the answer would be poor body language. The eye contact represents your attitude to others how you value them. I believe that in most culture looking to your eyes show respect toward the person you are talking to. While it is totally important to be confident and look the interviewer in the eye, but locking eyes with someone for a long period of time can be interpreted as aggressive and uncomfortable. As a result, you ought to know how to manage the eye contact in an appropriate way.
